We have a ceremony site booked and a date set, so it’s time to really get into planning my wedding! Our budget is about $7000 for 120-150 guests, so we are doing all we can to keep costs down. As it turns out, many of these strategies are better for the earth! From now until our wedding in June 2014, I will post about my planning and about how you, too, can save money and the earth while still having your dream wedding. After the wedding, I will make sure to do a recap to summarize how everything broke down cost-wise as well as some pictures of how everything turned out. The wording is all going to be pretty heteronormative, so I apologize in advance if you don’t fit into that.
Wedding do not have to be expensive! Bigger is not better! If you want to be a princess in a ballroom with all the bells and whistles, go for it. For example, our perfect wedding would be at the Cathedral with a reception at the James J. Hill Library. If you can do that, more power to you, although please do your best to minimize the environmental impact of that. But if you don’t want to, or can’t afford to (like us!), that’s fine. Do not go into debt for your wedding! I promise you can have a beautiful wedding that everyone will love on a budget that works for you.
